Peace Poster Contest

On November 7, 2009 the Glendale Heights Barangay Lions Club held their eighth Peace Poster Contest at the Marquardt District 15 Administration Center, on Glen Ellyn Road, Glendale Heights.
Students from three area schools — Glenside Middle School, Marquardt Middle School and St. Matthew Parochial School — submitted 147 colorful entries on Lions Clubs International theme of ‘The Power of Peace’.
First place winners from the three schools were picked by the art teachers and school staff and awarded cash prizes by the Glendale Heights Barangay Lions Club. The winners were: Tony Morales from Glenside Middle School, Carlie Marquez from Marquardt Middle School and Katie Steininger from St. Matthews.
Lion Pam Kelley, District 1J Peace Poster chairperson, praised the artistic works of the students and the rich ideas depicted in the colorful posters. District 1J Governor George Endean and Lady Sharon presented the awards and congratulated the students for their impressive art work.
The awards ceremony was attended by students and parents, art teachers and school administration. The club thanked Dr. Loren May, Superintendent, Marquardt School District 15 for the use of the beautiful, high-tech District 15 Center.
