A well-advertised health expo was held in a Seventh Day Adventist Church in the city providing free hearing test by LIF’s traveling Hearing Bus and free blood test, blood pressure test, EKG and dental services provided by 4 volunteer doctors and Dentist and 5 nurses.With the help of the church’s pastors Rev. Willie Obando and Rev. Frendel Reyes, Glendale Hts. Barangay Lions Club registered more than 50 churchgoers and walk-ins for the free health services.
Lions Mar, Anicia, Lilia and Jess attended the Camp Lions Open Houses at the new, sprawling Camp Henry Horner in Ingleside, IL, an hour’s drive from Hoffman Estates. The group joined the camp tour conducted by trained camp counsellors who are versed in sign language and palm reading. A free picnic dinner with the campers was provided at the end of tour.
Lions Susan and Jess Galvez surprised the campers at Camp Lions at the new camp in Ingleside, IL with native rice cakes for the Treat Night. At 7:30 pm, every evening during the summer session, volunteer Lions visit and bring treats for the campers as a welcome gesture and a chance to interact with the campers and find out what Camp Lions is all about.
The Glendale Heights Barangay Lions Club held a glittering 28th Charter anniversary at the Shriners Center on June 9, 2012. District 1-J Governor Lion Jim Addington graced the celebration as a guest speaker. He praised the club for outstanding service to the community and to the District 1-J administration.
President Mar Carlos gave out special awards to Lion Lilia Narciso as a Melvin Jones Fellow, to Lion Christine Tiojanco for Lion of the Year and PP Lion Susan Galvez the presidential award. Two club officers were given special awards for good service, Sec. Jess Galvez and Treasurer Edwin Cachola. For entertainment, Lion ‘Elvis’ Pineda wowed the audience with his Elvis Presley songs. A classy Broadway line dance, choreographed by Lion Christine Tiojanco and performed to the tune of "New York, New York" and "Hello Dolly", thrilled the audience. Emcees Lions Christine Tiojanco and Vil Villanueva kept the program humming and entertaining. Aris Enterprises revved up the dance floor with hot dance music.
