District 1-J Convention 2012

14 members registered at the District 1-J Convention at the Oakbrook Hills Marriott. The club participated in the Talent Show with an Elvis Prestley song by Lion Tony Pineda and a dance, Mazurka Boholana, choreographed by Lion Christine Tiojanco. A Wine Basket worth $150 was entered by the club at the Theme Basket public auction.

Annual Picnic in the Park 2012

    More than 80 people showed up at the Annual Picnic in the Park at the Spring Creek Reservoir on Lake St., held Sunday, July 15. Family, friends, senior citizens, fellow Lions, club sponsors enjoyed a day of rollicking fun and games, bountiful food and the camaraderie fostered by the wonderful gathering. Picnic chair Lion Tony Pineda entertained the group with Elvis Presley songs. Prizes were offered to winners in the group games.

District Bowling 2012

Fun and joyful fellowship marked the annual District Bowling at the Stardust Bowl in Addison, IL. The bowling was an annual fundraising for the District administration. The club fielded two teams of 5 bowlers per team.

Charity Golf Outing 2011

The club held their Annual Charity Golf Outing at the Glendale Lakes GC. 52 duffers participated in the golf outing with 26 hole sponsors donating funds for the successful charity golf fundraising.

Annual Candy Day 2012

The club held the Annual Candy Day at a busy storefront on North Avenue on Oct. 14-15. On Oct. 21-22, the Lions carried out their Candy Day street campaign at the busy North Avenue and Bloomingdale Rd. 17 Lions volunteered for the 4-day fundraising grossing $2,094.18.

Peace Poster Contest

GHBLC held their 10th Peace Poster Contest at the Marquardt School District 15 Administration Center in Glen Ellyn. 70 art posters on "Children Know Peace" were submitted by students from Glenside Middle School, Marquardt Middle School and St. Matthew Parochial School. District Gov. Jim Addington praised the young artists for their creativity and vision of peace in the community and the world.

Christmas Caroling

During the three weeks before Christmas, 14 Lions and 9 non-Lion volunteers sang Christmas Carols at different holiday gatherings and events. The club caroled 6 holiday business parties, 2 Lions meetings, 4 senior gatherings, 3 church groups, 3 family parties, made a special visit to a cancer patient’s home and a special visit to a VA Hospital patient to bring the joy and cheers of the holiday season.

Fun Night, Dance Night

On a snowy night in January, the club rolled out the second Fun Night at the Greenbrook West Clubhouse in Bartlett, IL. More than 33 Lions and friends came out to be with friends, have fun and enjoy an evening of dancing and joyful social activity.
