GHBL Club Sponsors International Peace Poster Contest

The Glendale Heights Barangay Lions Club held the 11th Lions International Peace Poster Contest on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at the Marquardt School District 15 Administration Center, 1860 Glen Ellyn Road, Glendale Heights, IL. More than 120 posters on the theme “Imagine Peace” were submitted by students,
ages 11-13 from Glenside Middle School, Marquardt Middle School and St. Matthew Catholic School.
Lions Clubs International is celebrating the 25th year of the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. The iconic art contest encourages young people to express their creativity and vision of peace through art. The three first prize winners from the 3 schools were awarded cash prizes and will have a chance to compete on the state and international level. The three winners were: Saul dela Torre of Glenside Middle
School, Morgan Mott of Marquardt Middle School and Alyssa Tumlos of St. Matthew School.
Twenty-four international finalists are selected each year from more than 350,000 young participants worldwide. One international grand prize will receive a cash prize of $5,000 at the United Nations on Lions Day and 23 merit winners each will receive a cash award of $500.
