For the Glendale Heights Barangay Lions, "the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" came early in October as they geared up for their annual Holiday caroling fundraiser. Rehearsals were held every week. By the end of November, the group was ready to carol and spread holiday cheers. For three weekends in December, the more than 17 Lions and volunteer carolers, dressed in black outfit with red mufflers caroled 5 family homes, 2 seniors residences, 5 business groups, Lion Perry at his home in Roselle and Dinner with Santa at a primary school. The group raised more than $3,387 for the club’s community services and free eyeglass and hearing aid program.
The Glendale Heights Barangay Lions Club brought holiday cheers and needed volunteer help to the Glen Hill Primary School’s Dinner With Santa, held on December 7. More than 150 familiies dined on pre-ordered pizzas at the gaily decorated gym while the Lions did double duty of serving the families with their choice pizzas, fruit juice or bottled water and singing holiday carols during dinner.
The school’s Parent-Teacher Organization sponsored the Dinner as a fundraiser. The crowd at the 2 dinner sittings at the gym – 5:30 and 6:15 pm – hailed Santa’s arrival with cheers and applause as the carolers sang "Santa Claus is Coming To Town". A special holiday raffle offering attractive holiday prizes added buzz and excitement to the event. Dinner With Santa and Walk To School Day held in October are two school activities GHBLC is involved in.
