For the second time in a year, the Glendale Heights Barangay Lions Club participated in Glendale Heights Village annual recycling campaign held last April 27 at the Village Public Works parking lot from 8:00 am – noon. The community-wide campaign attracted a good response from village residents and neighbors from outlaying areas unloading old computers, TV sets, household batteries, holiday lights, old bikes, cell phones, keys, used eyeglasses and hearing aids, retired US Flags, paper shredding. The club collected 59 used eyeglasses and received a donation of $10 from a Vietnam Vet. Lions Jun Fajardo, Susan Galvez, Freda Marzan and Jess Galvez joined the other volunteers helping with the recycling campaign. Janie LaGioia, Village Administrative Secretary and chair of the Green Team thanked the Lions for volunteering.
Glendale Heights Barangay Lion Club trotted out a classy Broadway Dance medley to the tune of "New York New York", "Hello Dolly" at the Convention Talent Show at the Oakbrook Hills Marriott Hotel on April 6. The dance was choreographed by Christine Tiojanco and participated by Freda Marzan, Lilia Narciso, Susan Galvez, Tita Stratas, Oscar Tiojanco, Edwin Cachola, Tom Rivera and Jess Galvez. The club registered 9 members at the 3-day convention and donated a wine basket worth $175 at the Theme Basket public auction. Proceeds from the auction would support the District administration expenses. A formal dinner and presentation of special recognition awards capped the three-day convention.
